Rocky Mountain Removal Scores FIFA-2* Certification

Update on Highlands Ranch
By: Adam Coleman | February 18, 2013

As you might have read back in our Rocky Mountain Removal Blog, TRS worked with All Around Recreation on a synthetic turf removal project for the Douglas County Parks System at Highlands Heritage Park in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. The goal was to divert 100% of old materials from the landfill. To support that ambitious goal set by Douglas County Parks, TRS extracted the infill and placed it directly into supersacks which were stored onsite while All Around Recreation installed a new ACT Global turf system. Having installed over 45 FIFA certified fields worldwide, ACT Global leveraged its knowledge of high performing soccer systems to dial in this turf system. All of the reclaimed infill was used in the new turf and topped with new rubber. The results speak for themselves…the field passed all the FIFA-2* performance tests on the first go around and received its certification in December.

FIFA Certificate

This FIFA field is the first in Colorado, one of 15 in the US, and it may very well be the first FIFA certified field to use reclaimed infill. This project is a great testament to the ability to reuse the infill and still achieve performance results at the highest level.
